A Short Autobiography

My name is Daniel Tatton and I first started writing poetry in March 2006. It all started because I didn't have a book to read before I went to bed. Usually I would borrow a book from a library in Stoke-on-Trent and take it to bed to read but because of the books absence I was left at a loss. So I picked up a pen and paper and left my mind to do its work. I have always been an imaginative person though my talents have never broken free from the National Curriculum until now. Schools tend to only let your imagination flow to a certain extent. For example, rather than let you draw something that you want, they force an object onto you which to me, completely defies the meaning of imagination. The mind is a powerful resources and if not used how it wishes to be used, then it will quickly become bored.

Now, people ask me a lot of questions when I'm at exhibitions. My most commonly received question though is "where do you get your inspiration from?”. I usually answer this question with "music mainly to be honest with you, but life in general as well" and it's true! Life in general can seriously impact my poetry quality, story line and even length. Take, for example, a couple of months ago. I was talking to a friend over the internet and all of a sudden it became a heated conversation and then turned into an argument with 2 other people. This argument actually produced a poem to which I think you can guess was Anger (please note that only people who have read The Childrens Poet Book 2 will know the complete poem of Anger).

So yes, there's a brief answer to my most commonly received questions and also a little about myself. If you have any more questions or simply want to say "Hello!", use the Guestbook!

Thank you.
